Critical Analysis
Initial Reaction
What does this artwork remind you of? Is there anything that is easily recognizable?
This artwork reminds me of an angel due to its easily recognizable glowing wings and halo.

What is your first impression of the artwork?
My first impression of the artwork is that it is quite strong or bold as there is lots of red and highlighted parts such as the wings and halo.

Analysis
How was this artwork made? What medium, technique, and or process has been used to create it?
This artwork was made using glow sticks and flashlights for the light writing and was later edited in Photoshop.

Where is the focal point or area of emphasis in this work? How is the viewer’s eye drawn to
this location?
The focal point of this artwork would be the halo and wings due to a gap of colour and the highlighted parts which makes it stand out and capture the viewer's eye.

Interpretation
What specific emotions, feelings or thoughts does this artwork provoke?
This artwork provokes confusion as it's a red angel. Usually an angel is thought of something that is good and light but the colour red is seen as bad and evil, so by combining the two, it creates a sense of confusion or uneasiness to the viewer.

Cultural Context
Who are the intended spectators of this artwork?
The intended spectators of this artwork would be anyone who is interested in light writing or likes vibrant and colorful images/photography.

Aesthetic Judgement
Do you feel this artwork is successful? What are you reasons?
I feel like this artwork is somewhat successful as in the end, I was able to create wings and a halo using just a flashlight which was quite difficult to do in the beginning as it took several tries.

What might you change about this artwork, and why?
What I would change about this artwork would probably be to add more colours other than just red. I would also add in a background such as trees or a tunnel as it would be more interesting to the viewer's eye.

Additional Insights
For my project light writing was a fun process but I soon realized that it took a lot of tries to get the outline of a person or wings right or complete as sometimes the camera didn't pick up the light or the flashlight wasn't pointed at or facing the lens. Therefore, it took several tries and different sources of lights such as glow sticks, sparklers and flashlights to get the right finish. Also sometimes the different colours of the glow sticks did not show up in an outside setting
